Namiki Nippon Art Origami Series

January 4th, 2010 kh No comments

The Namiki Nippon Art Origami series was launched during the Fall 2009 and it is the latest edition of Makie pens highlighting the authentic Japanese handicraft, the Origami. It derives from the Japanese word ORU meaning “folding”, and KAMI meaning “paper” is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. Once again in the series, Namiki have immortalized the Origami Art in its Makie pens and they have a selection of different motives that goes along with it. These design a very different from the conventional fine art which very often depicts perfect images. In the edition, you will find abstract images of Crane, Rabbit, Goldfish and Helmet but they are all in Origami style.

The Origami Makie pens are certainly fresh in design and I think maybe in the very near future, the makie pen makers will immortalize abstract art pieces by artist such as Picasso or Van Gogh. Once again, check out these pictures and they are available now at our website

Lamy Dialog 3 Fountain Pen

January 3rd, 2010 kh 1 comment

The LAMY dialog 3 is a revolutionary fountain without a cap. Thanks to a fascinating twist mechanism the nib slides elegantly out of the interior of the barrel, while the clip retracts onto the shell. The twist-action fountain pen is then ready to write. When the fountain pen is twisted closed a ball valve automatically moves in front of the opening and protects the retracted nib from drying out and getting dirty. The clip lifts up and the fountain pen can be clipped into a pocket or bag.

Twist-action fountain pen with palladium finish. With cartridge filling system with ink cartridge LAMY T 10 blue, converter Z 26 and pen case made of beech. With full retractable 14 Kt bi-colors gold nib, anodized. Available nib grades: extra fine (EF) / fine (F) / medium (M) / broad (B)

Designer: Franco Clivio

Nib type: 14K dual tone

System: Accepts converter/ cartridge

Pilot Makie Togidashi Dragonfly Wing Fountain Pen

December 12th, 2009 kh No comments

Ryosuke Namiki, the founder of Pilot Corporation, realized the need for improving existing pens used for drawing during his tenure as a professor at the Tokyo Merchant Marine College. After making a prototype fountain pen, he formed a partnership with one of his colleagues, Masao Wada and started manufacturing and selling fountain pens in 1918. Pilot/Namiki is known for its quality maki-e pens and the beautiful works of art are available in both its brand. The Maki-e lacquering, a centuries-old technique in which multi-layered patterns are drawn on the barrel and cap with urushi – sap from Japanese lacquer. This lovely fountain pen is hand painted Togidashi-maki-e lacquering techniques. The design is available with a fine, medium or broad 14 karat gold with rhodium accented nib, assuring long lasting, impeccable writing performance. A gift box with bottled ink completes the attractive presentation. Togidashi technique, a style where the design is painted in lacquer, and gold or silver powder is sprinkled over it; when the lacquer is dry, another coat is applied to the design to fix the powder. Ro-iro-urushi (black lacquer without oil) is then applied over the entire surface, and, after it has dried, it is burnished briefly with charcoal. The final polishing is done with cotton wool soaked with Ki-Urushi (crude Urushi).

System: Fountain pen accepts converter or cartridge

Nib type: 14K nib

Length: 14.2cm (cap closed)

Weight: 32.5grm
