Sailor Professional Gear and Sapporo

There has been quite a bit of confusion on the sizes of the Sailor Professional Gear and Sapporo range of pens as all of them look alike if we don’t compare side by side.  The Professional Series has been cosmetically improved based on the popular 1911 Series. This elegant series come with either gold or rhodium trims and 14K or 21K depending pen the fountain pen size. The Professional Gear pens comes with the lovely flat top engraved with the “Anchor logo” seemingly more blending with the entire fountain pen. The weight balance is at its optimum and the nib quality remains uncompromised. This range is also available in SLIM and MINI SLIM SIZE which is known as SAPPORO SERIES to the export market. Following are dimension:

I’m more of a fountain pen user rather than a collector. When I buy a new pen I have an intention to use is, or to keep it as a backup. I have some Parker 51s and a couple of Parker Vacumatics but when it comes to serious writing I rely on my Sailors, and the Professional Gear series in particular. I love the nibs, the finish and balance and that the cut-away ends are perfect for carrying in shirt pockets.

I cannot other than highly recommends Sailors. I have even started a Facebook group called: Sailor Fountain Pens. Please Join in!

As I use to say on Fountain Pen Network: You can never go wrong with a Sailor Sapporo with a medium nib as a first serious fountain pen!
