Caran d'Ache Office Pens

August 23rd, 2009 kh No comments

The Caran d’Ache 849 metal ballpens made its debut in 1969 and still in existence today. It is now known as the Office line and mainly promoted as corporate gifts by Caran d’Ache. They are available in exciting themes and colors; the aluminum body makes them light and hardy. The ballpoint pens use the ever popular Goliath refills which glides through papers as you write. Believe it or not these refills write up to 600 pages of A4 size papers. Caran d’Ache writing instruments will not be complete without their mechanical pencils with 0.7mm refills. We also took in the Fix pencils and they are more old fashion but unique. These relatively inexpensive Caran d’Ache ballpens and pencils are interesting and available at our website. Lastly, check out pictures of the Frosty pens as well.

Namiki Nippon Art Collection

August 19th, 2009 kh No comments

Namiki Nippon Art collection is the entry range to the maki-e pens. It uses the Hira Makie technique and is the simplest method of all as it needs the least time to complete. Hira Maki-e technique is a flat lacquer decoration with no relief. The powdered metals are sprinkled onto the surface while the coating is still wet. Then another coating is applied. At the end, the surface is polished flat. But one is not allowed to make any mistake as they cannot be repaired because the designs are drawn with E-urushi (colored urushi) on the surface. The Namiki Nippon Art pens are simple with beautiful pictures that tell better than a thousand words….

More new pens from Stipula

August 8th, 2009 kh No comments

The new Stipula pens finally arrived 2 days ago and we managed to have them checked into our store yesterday. Wow! Aren’t they are beautiful and we were so eager to take photographs of them for sharing with you. It will be interesting to know the stories behind the beauties.

Stipula Model T fountain pen

This pen is inspired by the famous car introduced by Henry Ford in 1908, the so called “T- Model”. The “T Model” fountain pen, with his dynamic and slender design, sober and elegant has been conceived following the same principles that inspired the historical model. Simple and solid in its black resin, expressly produced in one color and version only, essential in its metal details that add, besides their functionalities, a touch of delicate and pure refinement. The fountain pen come only 1 size nib size, the 6 mm titanium nib is as it is a less noble metal, with a great performance in terms of accuracy, flexibility and lightness. This one size known as the “T-Flex” nib allows a perfect writing and meets whatever a pressure. The Stipula Model T fountain pen offers all the characteristics of a very high quality writing instrument, but at a very accessible price. A pen meant for everyone. The Model T could best be describing by using Henry Ford’s own words: “Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black”.

Stipula Vespri Siciliani Black Ebonite Fountain Pen

Giuseppe Verdi, the great Italian composer of the XIX century was inspired by this heroic event in the history of Sicily for his lyrical opera “Les Vêpres Siciliennes”, the Sicilian Vespers. The original version was actually wrote in French and made its debut at Opéra de Paris on June 13th, 1855, but it was censored in Italy. This opera was frequently performed, particularly in its Italian version, and was in this drama set up at “La Scala”, the famous Opera theatre in Milan, that Maria Callas had her last public exhibition. Once more a pen dedicated to a great theme of the Italian history and to one of its most beautiful lands. The green nuances of the ebonite, the ancient material used for the first fountain pens, recall the green of the sea waves crashing towards the beaches and cliffs of the wonderful island of Sicily. The precious and finely refined sterling silver details are enlightened by delicate copper-color reflections, like a sunset behind the ruins of ancient temples of “Magna Graecia” as the Romans called the Greek colony. Stipula Vespri Siciliani in its fountain pen version with cartridge/converter filling system has a steel nib which offers a high quality trait for every handwriting style. You will find the copper color reflections on the trims are deliberately coated in faded manner to reflect its antique likeness.

Stipula Da Vinci Carbon T Black Carbon Fiber Fountain Pen

The Stipula Carbon-T, the last-born of the DaVinci collection. A new shell for the innovative cape-less opening mechanism patented by Stipula which, by simply and elegantly turning the barrel, allows a metal half moon to open and gracefully propels the nib outward in writing position. A new material for its extraordinary use in the fountain pen world: the carbon fiber. The first carbon fiber with high performances was created in 1958 by Roger Bacon, an American physicist and scientist. The carbon fiber consists of extremely thin fibers structure, several thousands carbon fibers are twisted together to form a yarn, which may be woven into a fabric. Carbon fiber has many different weave patterns and can be combined with different compounds to form composite materials. The high tensile strength, low weight, resistance to temperature variations and to the effect of chemical agents is some of its main properties. The pen has a cartridge/converter system and a 6 mm titanium nib a light and flexible metal that offers great writing qualities. The nib is available in one size only, T-Flex, that allows a perfect handwriting and adapts itself to whatever a pressure.

The Conway Stewart Plumage Mandarin Yellow Fountain Pen

The Mandarin Yellow is a new finish to compliment Conway Stewart’s Plumage Series. The Grey Plumage was featured on the cover of the Robb Report Collection, 2009 Design Preview. Conway Stewart has taken the original Plumage design and transformed it with vibrant shades of bright yellow, creating the perfect tribute to the spring season. Yellow is considered as a desirable color and is used to symbolize wisdom, joy and happiness. People of high intellect tend to favor this color. The Mandarin Yellow Plumage features both panels of vivid Mandarin Yellow enamel as well as intricately engraved panels that are highlighted by translucent enamel in a slightly deeper shade. The contrast between the two tones of yellow is perfectly accented by the brightly polished sterling silver trim. The Plumage Series is based on the popular Model 100, a classically shaped pen that has won awards for its design. The Plumage is crafted from hallmarked solid sterling silver rods, each piece being turned to exacting specifications and then carefully finished by our engravers before being enameled. The result is a perfectly balanced pen that exudes quality in every aspect, from the weight and balance to the gleaming surface of polished sterling silver and vibrant enamel.
Conway Stewart prides itself in its working relationship with the best of English craftsmanship. The artist for the Mandarin Yellow Plumage precious metal enameled series is known for his creativity and design in jeweler, plaques and trophies. Robert Glover M.A. RCA has been published in numerous industry titles and is the recipient of many notable awards and presentations. His works include major television awards, the famous and iconic Brit-Awards trophy for the UK music industry, exclusive corporate and military presentations.
